A fine and authentic Japanese Satsuma ware vase from the late Meiji to early Taisho period. Hand-thrown with an ivory crackle glaze, beautifully decorated in enamel gilt with peonies and flowering foiliage. The neck and foot are finished with rich red enamel (aka-e) bands featuring delicate gilt scrollwork - each hand-applied, with a subtle join typical of artisan Kyoto work.
The base bears a hand painted two character Japanese signature in red, identifying a Kyoto Satsuma studio.Ideal for collectors - or elegant interior display.
